Wild Flower Meadows
In 2012 we were given 25 grams of Yellow Rattle seed, by Dorset Wildlife Trust, as a trial to create a flower meadow. Coopers Field is North facing and the soil was very fertile due to it historically being farm land and allotments through WW2.
The trial area was successful and year on year ( see flower meadow diaries below ) the field was turned over to meadow by collecting Yellow Rattle seed and scattering in new areas. It took approximately 10 years for the meadow to come in to it's own, with natural regeneration and new flower species previously not recorded appearing for the first time.
In 2024 a project to start to record of all wildlife on sight was launch and still ongoing.
